Card shuffling, also known as card mixing, is the process of randomizing the order of a deck of playing cards. It is typically done prior to a game in order to ensure that the cards are not in a predictable order, which would give one player an unfair advantage.
There are many different ways to shuffle cards, but the most common is the overhand shuffle. To do an overhand shuffle, hold the deck in one hand and use the other hand to repeatedly cut the deck in half, placing one half on top of the other. After several cuts, the cards will be thoroughly mixed.
